Tired of all the leather designers have been trotting down the runway in the first few days of New York Fashion Week? Then you are in luck! By yesterday, Day 3, designers were ready to tell a different story. It was one that felt decidedly like fall with traditional wools and plush shearling coats.
As such, fall friendly trends were popular on the runways of designers like fashion’s new favorite Alexander Wang, African inspired brand, Suno and Fashion Week veteran, Vivienne Tam. Plaids were the predominant trend with designers layering them in the form of jackets over sweaters and button-downs over pants.
We continued to see bright pops of color in collections from up-and-coming designers like Kimberly Ovitz and Libertine. But the biggest trend story of yesterday, ladies (and gents) — black! The power color is back in full force as evinced on every runway from Prabal Gurung to Alexander Wang. Almost every designer sent an all black ensemble on the catwalk proving the saying: everything old is new again.
Log back on tomorrow to see what trends Day 4 of fashion week brings!
