Every day we feature the beloved “Strawberry Letter” franchise that is so popular on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show,” heard nationwide. Send in your letters and Shirley Strawberry will dish out the necessary advice. Today’s topic: Friend with roaches Dear Steve and Shirley, I have a friend that I have known for a long time. His clothes are clean and his body appears to be clean. I have seen him at the washteria and cleaner with his clothes. I was invited to his house and it was roach-infested. The house smells like old fashioned hair grease that your grandmother used to make. He even asked me out to dinner. As we were on our way to the restaurant the roaches started crawling around in the car. Today, I was at the park walking and I ran into him. So we walked for a mile and as I was leaving he offered me some fruit. I said sure I would like some fruit. He got the fruit out of his car and put it on the bench beside me. It was in a clear bag and I noticed that roaches were crawling in the bag. He acted surprised to see roaches in the bag. He grabbed the bag off the bench removed the fruit and shook the bag out and placed the fruit back in the bag. This guy wonders why I won’t go out with him. How can I tell him without hurting his feelings that he needs to fumigate his house and get rid of that awful smell on his clothes? Please give me advice like you would to your child. Thanks, Lady in need of advice
