Standing in a temporary memorial on a rural field near where 40 passengers and crew died after Flight 93 crashed on September 11, 2001, First Lady Michelle Obama said the world can now “see how a scare in the earth has healed,” reports the Associated Press. Appearing with former First Lady Laura Bush, Mrs. Obama expressed her sympathy for the families who lost loved ones on the plane and thanked her predecessor for her courage after the attacks. “May the memory of those who gave their lives here continue to be an inspiration to you and an inspiration to all of America,” said said, visibly holding back tears. “It is truly my prayer today that all who come here will be filled with hope.”
