President Barack Obama will visit New Orleans and the Gulf Coast on Thursday, October 15 for the first time since he’s been elected into office. He will be going to see for himself the progress that has been taking place in the recovery efforts from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, according to NoLa.com.
Mr. Obama recently signed an executive order allowing continued federally funded reconstruction efforts in the area until April 1, 2010.
President Obama’s trip will include a visit to the Dr. King Charter School and a town hall event at the University of New Orleans Lakefront Campus. It will enable the New Orleans community to convey their thoughts, challenges, and feedback directly to him. -WLW
