Organizers of Fashion Week in Sao Paulo, Brazil, are now contractually obligated to cast at least 10 percent of Black or Indian models during their upcoming fashion extravaganza, according to YahooNews.com. If organizers are noncompliant they will be fined as much as 250,000 reals ($125,000). Brazil’s population is 50 percent Black, with a large Indian minority community, and this action by the state resulted from complaints of mostly non-Blacks being booked by designers for shows.—QS
