The struggle for our brothers and sisters in Sudan continues. Five members of Congress were arrested outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington on Monday as they demonstrated against the situation in Darfur, according to the United Press International. The protesters spoke out against the general situation in Darfur and Sudan’s expulsion of outside relief agencies. Members of Congress arrested included Donna Edwards of Maryland; Jim McGovern of Massachusetts; John Lewis of Georgia, a veteran of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s; Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the only Muslim member of Congress, and Lynn Woolsey of California.—BB
