Grammy-winning songstress Chrisette Michele is banking on her fans to penny-pinch until her sophomore album, “Epiphany,” debuts on May 5. In a recent interview with ESSENCE.com, the Def Jam siren disclosed that she launched The Epiphany Girl Savings Plan, a surefire financial strategy that’s certain to boost her record sales.
“I am asking that everyone go on a two-dollar fast beginning May 1,” explains the Central Islip, New York, native jokingly. “I figure that by May 5 everyone will have saved at least ten dollars to buy my album.”
So what if Lady Michele forgot to factor in the state sales tax for a single purchase, we like her recession-proof state of mind and great sense of humor.—KNB
