President Barack Obama discussed plans for an upcoming Americas summit last week with host country, Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Patrick Manning, according to AFP. “The President is committed to building strong and productive partnerships in the hemisphere and believes the summit represents an important step toward achieving this objective. He looks forward to meeting Prime Minister Manning and to working with him to advance our shared goals,” said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. The summit, which is scheduled to take place from April 17 to 19, will likely focus on U.S. embargo relations with Cuba.—LB
