Recording artist Natalie Cole appeared on CNN’s “Larry King Live” last night to talk about her fight against drugs and newly diagnosed sickness, but received
much more than she could imagine. The R&B singer was diagnosed with
hepatitis C in 2008, consequently after her battle with heroin and cocaine. After receiving chemotherapy, both of her kidneys stopped working and as a result Cole has been searching for donors to give their own to help those in need. While viewers listened to her humble plea for generous donors, dozens of people sent in e-mails offering to get tested to see if their kidney was suitable for donation. Cole, who is currently on a long waiting list to receive a kidney, was overwhelmed by the instantaneous response. The Grammy winner has been optimistically working through her illness and still has been able to go on tour.—PS
