Rhythm and blues icon Aretha Franklin, also known as the Queen of Soul, celebrates her 67th birthday today. The living legend started celebrating early with a fete at Detroit’s Seldom Blues on Saturday night according to The Detroit Free Press. Seldom Blues was also Franklin’s venue of choice for her Christmas party in December. The party’s centerpiece was reportedly a huge cake and raspberry-filled replica of the queen’s now infamous gray-bowed hat worn for President Obama’s Inauguration. Franklin was the first woman to be inducted into the enviable Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. —BB
