In their first major meeting since President Obama’s election, the Nation of
Islam met last weekend in Chicago for their annual convention, according to
the Associated Press. Sunday’s keynote speech was made by Minister Louis
Farrakhan who spoke to those in attendance about the need to rebuild Black
communities and capitalize on the excitement of having the nation’s first
African-American president. Rappers Snoop Dogg, Doug E. Fresh and T.I. all
made appearances during Farrakhan’s two-hour speech. The two-day event also
included a session for women called the Michelle Obama Effect.—WLW
