Health Alert: Cholera Spreading Like Wildfire in the Motherland
Cholera is spreading like wildfire in Zimbabwe, according to the World Health Organization. At least 484 people have died from the disease since August, reports the BBC, but doctors there believe the number is more likely in the thousands. The Chlorea outbreak, which is spread by contaminated water, has aided the collapse of Zimbabwe's health and sanitation systems.
While cholera is curable, Zimbabwe lacks the drugs and doctors to treat it properly, said former President Jimmy Carter, who visited with officials in the region last week.
