President-elect Barack Obama is preparing to create 2.5 million new jobs by 2011, reports the Associated Press. Some jobs would include rebuilding roads, bridges and upgrading schools to handle alternative-energy sources while establishing more energy-efficient automobiles. In his radio address this weekend, Obama noted the country’s economic crisis, prompting Congress to pass an extension of unemployment benefits this past week. He added, “We must do more to put people back to work and get our economy moving again. These aren’t just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis. These are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long.”
