For some Obama supports in Greenville, South Carolina, who attend St. Mary’s Catholic Church their political choice seem to have had a consequence to their spiritual life. Resident priest, the Reverend Jay Scott told members, who voted for President-elect Barack Obama not to take communion. In a letter issued Sunday to parishioners, Scott explained “that they are putting their souls at risk if they take Holy Communion before penance for their vote,” reports the Associated Press.
He went on to say, “voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exits constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil, and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside of the full communion of Christ’s Church and under the judgment of divine law.”
