Sister Cecilia Gaudette, a 106-year-old American nun, appeared on CBS News and BBC radio recently, saying she will be voting for the first time since 1952—and that her vote will be cast for Senator Barack Obama, according to Reuters.com. The last time Sister Gaudette participated in an American presidential election she voted for Republican President Dwight Eisenhower.
She’ll be one of the oldest Americans to vote.
Sister Gaudette has been living in Rome for the past 50 years and recently discovered that she could vote by mail or Internet. In light of her minor celebrity status, she is now a bit startled by all the attention and wants to be left alone.
