A Kansas City middle school teacher was suspended after a video was posted on YouTube showing his students pledging political allegiance to Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama, according to the Kansas City Star. The group of young males (many Black) were dressed in T-shirts and camouflage pants, marching in fraternity like formation, chanting praises to Obama. They attend Urban Community Leadership Academy, a project-based learning charter school that helps about 300 high-risk students in the fifth through ninth grades. In the choreographed video, the boys shouted out how Obama has inspired them to pursue their personal dreams. The video was created in May while Senators Hillary Clinton and Obama were competing for the Democratic nomination, but was only recently posted.
