In Memoriam: As Twitter Shuts Down Vine, We Remember Some Of The Best Videos

Twitter announced Thursday that it would be shutting down Vine, it's popular short-form video app that changed social media, in the coming months. We remember the platform with some of the best Vines the app had to offer.

On Thursday, Twitter announced that it would be discontinuing its popular short-form video app, Vine, leaving the internet stunned. "Thank you. Thank you. To all the creators out there — thank you for taking a chance on this app back in the day.

To the many team members over the years who made this what it was — thank you for your contributions. And of course, thank you to all of those who came to watch and laugh every day," the company said in a statement.

Vine, which was founded in 2012 and officially launched in 2013, has been one of social media's most influential platforms launching the careers of countless internet celebs like King Bach, who've gone on to pursue Hollywood fame.

Twitter plans to keep the website online and say nothing will happen to the app or videos today.

"You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website."

The news has left many devastated and fans of the platform have taken to Twitter to remember the app. We'll miss Vine too and the countless memes its created, so we've put together a list of some of our favorite videos in honor of the app and the laughter its provided over the years.

We'll miss you Vine!
