In Solidarity: 28 Powerful Photos From The Dakota Access Pipeline Protests

Hundreds of demonstrators in North Dakota have been arrested in recent weeks while taking a stand in protest against the building of an oil pipeline on Native American land. The Dakota Access Pipeline, which is meant to carry crude oil from North Dakota to Illinois, has the potential of damaging the sacred Native American site and priceless artifacts, as well as being hazardous to the drinking water in the area. North Dakota regulators criticized the pipeline company for not immediately reporting the discovery of American Indian artifacts after it was reveale that they instead waited 10 days before doing so. In response to the rightful outrage over the pipeline, President Obama recently raised the possibility of future reroutes to alleviate tribal concerns.
