This weekend, thousands are expected to convene in Washington D.C. to be a part of the March For Racial Justice.
As we’ve previously reported, The March For Racial Justice will aim to broaden the conversation around shifting power away from white supremacy and towards racial equality. In support of the march, a group of inspiring activists have also organized the March For Black Women, which will take place simultaneously as a separate march, before ultimately converging with the March For Racial Justice to combine supporters into one group.
Organizers of the March For Black Women have stated that the purpose of the march is to “denounce the propagation of state-violence and the widespread incarceration of Black women and girls, rape and all sexualized violence, the murders and brutalization of transwomen and the disappearances of our girls from our streets, our schools and our homes.”
In addition to the march happening in D.C., there are also several other states who will hold events in support of the movement on a local level. Check out the list below to see if there’s a sister march taking place in your state and be sure to visit the official March For Black Women website HERE for more information about how you can get involved.
