Fans Want Larry Johnson Fired: Not a Part of History

UPDATE 11/4/09: Hundreds of Kansas City Chief fans have signed a petition asking the team's owner to fire Johnson over anti-gay slurs according to TMZ. Johnson is 80 yards away from being the Chiefs all-time leading rusher. The fans don't want him to make history.

The petition reads: "Larry has been a black eye on the organization...We are asking you, as fans of this team, this organization, and of the pride this city has in the Chiefs, please deactivate Larry Johnson. Please do not let his name sit atop the all-time rushing leaders in Kansas City Chiefs' history"

Johnson Apologizes for Using Slur

UPDATE: Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was ordered to stay away from the team Tuesday while the NFL and the Chiefs finish their investigation into his use of a homosexual slur twice this week, according to the Associated Press. Johnson issued an apology and a national gay rights advocacy organization called on the league and the team to take action against the two-time Pro Bowler.

The latest chapter in Johnson's turbulent career began Sunday night when he questioned coach Todd Haley's football credentials on his Twitter account. He used the slur during an exchange with one of his Twitter followers. On Monday, Johnson used the slur again as he brushed off reporters and told them he would not comment, according to the Kansas City Star, which recorded the comment. Johnson later apologized to Haley, the team, fans and the league "for the words I used."

"I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration, and they were not appropriate," he said through a spokesman. "I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said."

Johnson also apologized to "all the kids who view athletes as role models. I was not a good role model yesterday and hopefully I can become a better role model. We all make mistakes, and the challenge is to learn from them.

"I will do my best to learn from this one as I move toward becoming a better person, teammate, and member of the Kansas City Chiefs team and community."

Johnson's Mouth Gets Him in Hot Water

Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is catching heat from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance against Defamation (GLADD) for the use of anti-gay slurs. According to the Kansas City Star, Johnson yelled at reporters, in the locker room telling them to "get your f****t ass out of here." Jarrett Barrios, president of GLAAD, has called on the NFL to take action against Johnson and condemn the future use of anti-gay epithets. "All too often this is the word that is used to ridicule and harass young gay and transgender athletes on local sports fields across America," Barrio says. "Professional athletes who use this word need to be held accountable for feeding a climate of intolerance toward our community."--Nazenet Habtezghi

Maybe the twinks should get some reality education. They are offended? Too bad! Show some tolerance? No, wait, you expect to get it but not show it. Why should I show tolerance to people who chose that lifestyle and try to ram "gay diversity" up my corn chute? You speak of tolerance and say you want to be left alone, but your actions speak otherwise. Freedom of speech, it's in the constitution, read all about it! azzhats

GOOD! Another hater bites the dust... Now you can join the actor (Washington from Grey's Anatomy) in the unemployment line...Did you learn from his mistake? I guess not...Bet you feel like a F@g now?

Larry Johnson was released from the Kansas City Chiefs today

Absolutely NO being worth fired over!

Oh My Goodness!! I don't know how many movies I have seen, or songs I have heard, with the N word being said over and over. Why is it acceptable for people,(I don't care what color they are) to say the N word, but nobody can say F*g? That word (F*g) does not have the kind of history that the N word has behind it. He should not lose his job over this. People can't say anything anymore. It's no coincidence that things have been turned around, and now black people are being portrayed as the racists and bigots. It's just to keep our mouths shut when we see racism. Now it's called using the "race card" when black people mention race. Gay people act like all gay people are white. Why is it that they compare being gay to being black? I don't think that people should call others names, but I don't think that a athlete should lose his job if he does. If he had called another black person a N***, would he have been in trouble, even though some black people would be offended? He's not a politician. He didn't take an oath to represent or take care of his community.

Not worth being fired over.

This is so ridiculous. This man should not lose his career over such nonsense.
Many people have dealt with being called much worse and survived.

Larry "The Lush" Johnson must be excommunicated. He has thrown stones and they have come back to hit him in the face as Arrowheads!

Larry "Cupcake" Johnson

He will be remembered by this name. Everyone does not want to see him fail...no...everyone in Kansas City wants to see him hit the road. We are tired of this cry baby. We are tired of his complaining. We are tired of him taking full credit for a "team" effort. He did not get those yards by himself. He deserves no honor because he has no honor.

What can you say about a guy who will not block for his teammates? Wha can you say about a guy who abuses women? What can you say about a grown man who throws temper tantrums?

Hit the road! Thats what you say, and if there are guys out there with a man crush for this punk then bring him to your town.

Jamaal Charles is a real running back! Somehow hes able to gain impressive yards with the same line. He blocks, he doesn't complain.

Jamaal Charles is a Warrior...Jamaal Charles is a Kansas City Chief! Larry Johnson is just..a cupcake.

Goodbye to Larry "Cupcake" Johnson!

It was the team that got him all those yards. He can go to a city that respects grown men who throw tantrums and hit women.

They will regret that decision once they start counting too many game loses?

He should be let go. It isn't right to use those kind of words. If it were a white player calling someone the N word he would have been thrown out in 5 minutes.

"I thought freedom of speech was a constitutional right if he apologized let it be its certainly not grounds for firing anyone."

Freedom of speech? So, if your boss called you the n-word, would you want him or her to keep their job?

Johnson not only said negative things about gays, he also twittered negative things about his coach. He is a drag on his team. He should let go.

I thought freedom of speech was a constitutional right if he apologized let it be its certainly not grounds for firing anyone

Today the world is becoming more acceptable to things that were never to be in the first place. For Larry Johnson to ridicule anyone in anyway is wrong but to want someone to lose their career is never the answer. I do not believe in homosexuality but I do respect all individuals. The first thing that comes to people mouths is that if it was racial it would be a different story, but what people have to realize is that people are born of their color and race, homosexuality is not something that you are born with no matter how hard you try to get others to believe that. No one should be ridiculed for what they like to do but they can't try to compare it to other situations to make it look right.
