Fox News host Melissa Francis broke out in tears on Wednesday while trying to defend President Donald Trump’s shocking comments Tuesday that blamed both white supremacists and counter protesters for this weekend’s violence in Charlottesville.

“I am so uncomfortable having this conversation,” Francis told co-hosts Juan Williams, Harris Faulkner and Marie Harf on Fox News’ Outnumbered as she became emotional. She was responding to the idea that Trump was defending Nazis and KKK members with his comments.

She added: “I know what’s in my heart and I know that I don’t think anyone is different, better or worse based on the color of their skin. But I feel like there is nothing any of us can say right now without being judged.”

Faulkner, who is a Black woman, tried to comfort Francis: “It’s a difficult place where we are, but it’s not where we’ve been, it’s where we are. This is not 1950, we can do this. We can have this conversation, oh yes we can. And it’s OK if we cry having it.”

Harris later apologized on Twitter: “Thank you all so much for your support. I’m embarrassed I got emotional but it is a raw time for everyone,” she wrote.
“Forgive my tears!”

And she should be embarrassed. Race is a necessary conversation that people of color have no choice to discuss and confront. The nerve of this woman, at such a moment in our history, to cry because she felt uncomfortable and judged when people are literally dying every day due to the racist history of this country, is unbelievable.
