2009 ESSENCE MUSIC FESTVIAL VOLUNTEER / INTERN PROGRAM

Volunteers and interns are an integral part of the Essence Music Festival, and we thank you in advance for generously donating your time.

Volunteers are needed for the pre-event days of June 29th to July 2nd and the days of the festival, July 3rd to 5th. Pre-event days are divided into two shifts (8:00am-3:00pm and 2:00pm-9:00pm), and event days are divided into two shifts (8:00am-5:00pm, 4:00pm-11:00pm). Volunteers can work one shift per day for as many days as he or she would like. Volunteers will work in a variety of departments including the Art Marketplace, Empowerment Seminars, Production, Sponsorship, Information and Greeting, Talent, and Art. Interns are needed for the pre-event days of June 29th to July 2nd and the days of the festival, July 3rd to 5th. Interns are required to work at least 6 hours between 8:00am and 9:00pm on three pre-event days and from 7:30am to 11:00pm on event days. Interns will work closely with the heads of departments such as the Art Marketplace, Empowerment Seminars, Production, Sponsorship, Information and Greeting, Talent, and Art. Interns must be responsible, timely, driven, and personable individuals willing to dedicate their time and hard work to this program. All interns that complete the required hours will receive a signed letter of completion. To apply, simply fill-out the online application here. Volunteers and interns will need to find transportation to and from the festival, located both in the Louisiana Superdome and the Ernest M. Morial Convention Center. Volunteers and interns will receive one free shirt for the duration of the festival and interns will receive a free food voucher for each shift worked on event days.
