On Sunday, November 15th, Star Jones hosts 'Heart of the City: Dying to Eat in Jackson,' a BET News exclusive on obesity in Black America. The one-hour special focuses on Jackson, Mississippi, home to the largest population of African-Americans, as well as the country's most obese state.
The feature will touch on personal accounts, dish out statistics and create an open dialogue between the community at risk and expert guests.
African-Americans are more overweight and obese than any other racial group and at risk for developing heart disease, diabetes, stroke, hypertension, and certain types of cancer.

To the lady that drives all the time, preparation is the key. I lived in a city that was fairly spread out and used to take the bus to school and work while pregnant! I would put two bottles of water in my back pack, and fix a lunch- turkey sandwich, chips (1 serving= 18 chips), carrot sticks and graham crackers for "dessert". I would also put in 2 snacks for my break at work. This was usually a bunch of grapes, and a sliced orange or apple. All of this went into a gallon sized zip lock bag, and lasted me throughout the day. I would refill the water bottles at work, and eat breakfast at home. Hope this helps. Remember, preparation is the key. Good Luck
