It’s rumored that the Secret Service’s codename for Sasha when she’s traveling is “radiance.” We can totally see why.
Sasha is an amazing girl, full of energy and uniquely confident for her age. At the Democratic National Convention in 2008, she was the first one to say “Hi, Daddy!” to her father in front of millions of people.
Sasha clearly has a little competitive streak in her. She loves to win and it’s not seen any better than when she’s playing games with her dad or making goals on the soccer field.
President of France, Nikolas Sarkozy, led a chorus of “Happy Birthday” to Sasha Obama during her whirlwind trip to Paris and London in 2009. Her mother, sister, grandmother, godmother and a cousin were all on hand to toast the occasion along with Mr. Sarkozy’s three sons and eight-year-old stepson.
Sasha and Malia had the opportunity to take in a little culture during their trip to France in 2009. Here they’re visiting the George Pompidou Centre Modern Art museum which has all kinds of cool and whimsical artistic interpretations.
During her whistlestop tour of Europe, young Miss Obama and her sister had a private tour of the set of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” The girls, both avid Potter fans, met with the film’s stars, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.
“When our little precious pea was just 3 months old, she was hospitalized with life-threatening meningitis,” said President Obama at a White House Internet town-hall.
“The doctors did a terrific job, but frankly it was the nurses that were there with us when she had to get a spinal tap and all sorts of things that were just bringing me to tears.”
Sasha is the youngest child to reside in the White House since John F. Kennedy, Jr., in 1961. She is also the first White House resident born in the 21st century.
President Obama is able to spend more time with his girls now that he’s working and living under the same roof.

Sharing a birthday with Sasha Obama today, on June 10, are singer Faith Evans, actress Hattie McDaniel and Louisiana Governor Piyush “Bobby” Jindal.
Sasha’s birthstone is the Emerald which also represents spring and a time of new growth and rebirth. It is said in ancient Egypt, Emeralds were engraved with the symbol for foliage to represent eternal youth.

The girls may be almost three years apart in age, but they continue to stick together like only sisters can.
