“Everybody is inspiring and encouraging and anointed and it’s just a room full of love. If you even try to step to someone as a fan, it’s like, “No, we’re sisters.” In this room, we are sisters and it’s beautiful. I am so honored to be here,” said “Community” star, Yvette Nicole Brown.
“Today was almost like Christmas Day for me,” said ESSENCE Editor-at-Large, Mikki Taylor. “Every person that came to the stage was a gift and when they opened and shared the thoughts of their hearts — as I said in the beginning, this is the most amazing period in the history of Black women, ever.”

“I feel validation that everything I feel, the whole ball of wax of being a woman, being a mother, being a Black woman, of being an actress and [dealing with] the rejection, of the competition, of the wonder and love of what I do. I feel completely validated, from all of it,” said actress Lynn Whitfield.
“I feel so full. I feel the same way I feel eating the most perfect meal that couldn’t have tasted any better or couldn’t have been more satisfying. I couldn’t have asked for anything more of less from this day,” said ESSENCE 2011 Black Women In Hollywood honoree Viola Davis.
