Do we spy a hot new It couple? TMZ cameras caught tennis superstar Serena Williams making out in the back of a Cincinnati restaurant. The two were spotted together just hours after Serena dominated the WTA tournament (and Drake was spotted cheering her on in the crowd). We wonder how Common feels about this! [TMZ]
Fifty years after the death of 14-year-old Emmett Till, Whoopi Goldberg is hoping to bring his story to light. The View co-host has signed on to produce Till, a film based on the 2004 documentary The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till and Simeon’s Story: An Eyewitness Account of the Kidnapping of Emmett Till. “Emmett Till’s brutal death at the hands of ignorant, brutish people exposes the Jim Crow-era South that gave the implicit OK to uphold that kind of racism without any real fear of repercussions,” Goldberg said in a statement. “Today, the return of rampant, unchallenged racism cries out for the telling of Emmett Till’s story again.” [The Root]
The Cosby Show star Lisa Bonet is indirectly speaking out on the sexual assault allegations against her former co-star Bill Cosby. In an interview with The Guardian, Bonet’s daughter, Zoe Kravitz, said that her mom was concerned by the accusations. “She’s just as disgusted and concerned as everyone else,” Kravitz said. “But I don’t think she has any insight…If there was something she felt the world needed to know that would help this case or help any women who had been abused, she would say something.” [TIME]

Azealia Banks has a message for Black media (and it’s not a good one). The outspoken rapper asked that Black media outlets stop covering her, saying that their coverage has been detrimental to her brand. “I don’t fall in line with your self righteous Black Christian social beliefs, and I never will,” she tweeted. “So please stop covering me…This is going to be soooo much easier for me now that I’ve decided to turn my back and act like I’m White!” [Vibe]
Nelly is investing in a good cause. The St. Louis native announced that he would be sending a group of high school students to college through a Michael Brown scholarship that he is funding. “We have to get the kids to go out of these communities,” he said. “Graduate. Get the knowledge. Come back to the community, and then they can run it because they understand the people and understand the severity of the situation.” [The Source]
