Citing the city’s increasing homicides, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced during a news conference yesterday that she would be firing police commissioner Anthony Batts. “…As we have seen in recent weeks, too many continue to die on our streets, including three just last night and one lost earlier today,” she said. “Families are tired of feelings this pain, and so am I.” Deputy police commissioner Kevin Davis will be serving as interim police commissioner.
