Pop star Madonna is one the latest celebrities to join adoption bandwagon. Here she’s seen with her Malawian son, David Banda, 3, who she adopted in 2006. The star will find out today whether or not she will be allowed to adopt her second Malawian child: a 4-year-old girl named Mercy James.
Angelina Jolie adopted her daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 4, when she was a newborn in Ethiopia. Father Brad Pitt was quoted as saying, “For White people who might be having a little trouble with Black-person hair, Carol’s Daughter is a fantastic hair product,” when talking about grooming Zahara’s hair.
Director Steven Spielberg and his son Theo enjoy a game at the Staples Center. Theo was first adopted by Spielberg’s wife, actress Kate Capshaw, in 1994. Now, he’s one of seven children in the Capshaw-Spielberg crew.
Tom Cruise and his son Connor recently attended Game Two of the Western Conference Finals during the 2009 NBA Playoffs. Cruise shares custody of Connor (who bears a striking resemblance to his superstar dad) and his adopted daughter Isabella with ex-wife actress Nicole Kidman.
Hugh Jackman and son Oscar Maximillian were recently seen on the streets of New York City. Oscar, 8, is the first of the actor’s two bi-racial children. Oscar is a mix of Black, White, Hawaiian and Cherokee, while daughter Ava is half German, half Spanish.
