After being close friends for eight years, Seun finally made his move with Omonye. Just eight months after they began dating he was so smitten that he flew to Nigeria just to ask her father for his daughter's hand in marriage. See their fab “I dos!”
Her Prayers Were Answered
“I had prayed to God to bless me with a great husband when He knew it was time for me to get married,” says Omonye. “When Seun and I started dating, I saw in him, all the qualities I desired in a husband. I knew that God made him for me.”
Omonye wore this fabulous Winnie Couture gown. “I wanted a mermaid style dress and I went shopping with one of my bridesmaids, Tiffany,” she adds. “We both saw this dress and loved it. I knew the this one was a winner.”
“I honestly never had dreams of what my wedding, dress or reception would be like,” says Omonye. Instead she just enjoyed each moment as it happened and you can tell.
Styled To Perfection
“I’ve always liked the pin-up to the side look,” admits Omonye. “I think it suits every face-type so I chose that style for my wedding day.” Shout outs to her glam squad, The Glam Doctor’s Rashida LaShawna and hairstylist Sophia Boyd.
“The bridesmaid dresses were designed by a UK designer called Virgos Lounge,” Omonye tells us. “I knew I wanted a shade of purple but wasn’t too sure of which shade of purple. The designers helped me in choosing the perfect shade for a spring wedding.”
“The groom’s tux was designed by Calvin Klein and his groomsmen tuxedos were designed by Joseph Abboud,” says the bride. “They all wore bow ties. Seun wore a Gucci bow tie, Hugo Boss shoes, an Armani bracelet and a Movado watch.”
“We didn’t have any plan or ideas for our wedding,” Omonye admits. “As the bride, I wanted something simple yet classy. Purple is one of my favorite colors and my husband felt it went along with our theme so our colors for the day were lilac and champagne.”
“My bouquet was made of off-white roses with crystals,” says the bride. “I also included a bouquet photo charm with a picture of my mother. She passed away when I was 11 and having her picture on my bouquet allowed me to feel her presence the entire day.”
“We met at an engineering mixer at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan,” says the bride. Omonye was a freshman looking to meet new people and Seun, a senior, noticed that Omonye was not dancing to the “Electric Slide" and he saw it as an opportunity to introduce himself.
“It was a spring wedding so we knew we wanted lighter and brighter colors,” says Omonye. “We incorporated a lot of white drapes, floating candles, suspended cake and these items to help us come up with our theme, which was heavenly bliss.”
“Omonye is smart, caring, God fearing, and has a great sense of humor, which are all great qualities that attracted me to her,” says Seun. “As we started dating we became completely free with one another and I noticed she was the right person who had a strong personality to keep me grounded and determined. Once I started to envision her as a wife and mother it was a done deal.”
