Dalia and Jesse designed a custom monogram made up of two "S"s that make a heart and enclose a “T”, both of which are enclosed by a “4” and an “E”. It stands for “Sweets and Swing Together Forever”. Adorable!
The Perfect Pair
Jesse and Dalia’s got their nicknames back in high school when they met. His friends call him “swing” because of his moves on the court, and Jesse calls his lady “sweets” because he has a sweet tooth for her.
After watching shows like “Say Yes to the Dress”, Dalia says she knew it was going to take a lot of looking to find her dream dress. She wound up going to boutiques all over Canada and even visiting the U.S. in search of The Gown.
Dalia says she knew Jesse would be husband the day they shared their first kiss in front of their high school gym. “We just went forward and it felt so natural and so comfortable,” she says. “We were friends, we were inseparable, and we were in love.”
Although their families maintain close ties to their African and Caribbean roots, rather than incorporate too many elements into their ceremony they chose to say a prayer and to have include a sand ceremony.
After all the hard work of planning and budgeting for the dream wedding, Dalia couldn’t wait to let loose. Her favorite part of the reception? “Dancing with everyone and seeing my friends and family have fun.”
