Shirley Sherrod is a lifelong community activist and advocate for economic and social improvement for Southwest Georgia. A recipient of a three-year Kellogg Foundation Fellowship, she holds a BA in Sociology and a Master's in Community Development. Her work with the Federation of Southern Cooperative resulted in the passage of the Minority Rights Bill. She was co-founder of New Communities, one of the first community Land Trust and served as USDA State Director for Rural Development.
