My first time at Essence and my first time in New Orleans this year will always be thought of as wonderful and unforgettable. I was fortunate enough to participate in the Kraft Foods Gospel Search. When I first arrived I was comforted by the kindness ofthe people who lived in New Orleans. After a short time I knew that I would enjoy my stay because of the people who greeted me with such genuine warmth and hospitality. I will always think fondly of my time there because I was so blessed to be able to win the talent search. The thing that brings me the most joy is that I got to sing the same song at several different locations and to many of the citizens of New Orleans. Now I see that God was speaking words of encouragement in that song to those who would soon need it. The song was "God is Able," and certainly we all need to be reminded that no matter the situation God is able to bring us through it, and keep us all. I just hope I can sing that song again to the wonderful people w

I am like alot other people, I was just there 2 months ago,I can't beleive this happen to such a great city. The response was so delayed from wht is suppose to be one of strongest and most advanced country in the world. It just makes me mad, especiallywhen people say."Well what are we going to with them now". I leave in San Antonio, Texas and beleive me I have heard people say it. The citzens from New Orleans are down south people like me, friendly, helpful and loving and I am just glad to have some brothers and sisters

I have visited New Orleans twice for the Essence Music Festival in 2003 and 2004.

N.O is such a beautiful place and to see it destroyed takes my breath away. Most importantly what is going on with my brothers and sisters is an outrage! I cry for them and pray for them every chance I get. I hope they know they are loved. A lot of groups in the Black Community are raising money and doing what they can. I pray for this country and I pray for this administration because I fear that they do not fear God. How could you

I have truly been taken back by the whole issue of Katrina and have been emotionally spent. I truly lost it last week while reflecting on the fact that just two months ago, I was in that very same area having a ball at the 2005 Essence Festival.

My heart and Prayers are with all those who have been affected by Katrina. Hold On! God Knows and Sees Everything.

The LORD is in his house and will open it to all of the relief victims. I cry every night when I see the devastation and destruction on TV. Please know that my heart goes out to all of those that have been touched by this disaster. I will do all that I can to assist with the relief efforts, while all the time praying for every victim.
