Women Who Are Shaping the World Leadership Summit was a huge success! The power-packed day at the Marriott Marquis in New York City on October 5 featured more than 40 exciting speakers—industry leaders and entrepreneurs—who inspired and energized the 700+ women in the audience. Here are a few highlights of the 4th annual event.

Soledad O’Brien, CNN Anchor & Special Correspondent, moderated the first panel discussion—A View from the Top: Lessons for successful career building from women at the pinnacle of their careers. To get a different perspective, attendees heard from a lively panel of men who enthusiastically discussed Men: An honest conversation about their take on relationships, work/life balance and their needs. Moderated by Radio Personality Wendy Williams in her renowned “Queen of All Media” style, the panel included Dr. A.R. The Balancing Act, moderated by ESSENCE Editor-in-Chief Angela Burt-Murray, was a popular panel discussion on a topic that is a universal struggle for working women: work/life balance. Among the many client-sponsored areas, was a Wachovia booth where representatives discussed planning for retirement and showed attendees retirement planning tools including an online quiz and workbook.
