I recently read a very good book by a new author named Renika McQueen-Echols. It was called Deceitful Passions. If I'm not mistaken, I think the auhtor is from Detroit. At first i was skeptical but once I got to reading it, it was the BOMB. I finished itn 1 day! I think my sister ordered it from Amazon.com. Just wanted to share that with you avid readers.

I was listening to Ashanti's new song "The Way That I Love You" and it reminded me of the book "Cold Summer Afternoon" that opens with a woman shooting her man five times. I won't spoil the plot but it is a good book if you like urban fiction. I am surprised it's not on the Essence Best Sellers list yet!

I just finished reading an advance copy of Unfaithful by this new author named Devon Scott. This was truly one of the best books I've ever read. I don't know much about him (or her) but the book is HOT and is taking AA fiction to a much higher level.

I just read Heaven's Fury by Meta Smith while I was getting my hair braided. I wasn't expecting much because it was a G-Unit book but there was nothing else to read. I was so surprised. I really enjoyed it. So much that I picked up her other books. I love her style of street lit and now my daughter who is a freshman at Howard is hooked. I can't wait to see her on the Essence list.
