How horrible that Janet's title song, Discipline, encourages a man to beat and torture a woman - take your frustrations out on me... What happened to the Janet who sang "What about that?" I have been a fan for 20 years, but will never buy another Janetalbum again! She used to be about women's liberation, not subjugation. And I'm shocked that Essence didn't address this.

As I was saying, you are a unique and very special person.Keep that mystique, kindness, strength and self control. That's what makes you YOU!! You are one of a kind and no Ciaras, Beyonces, Shakiras (I could go on but I won't) could fill your shoes. Thank you for blazing the way for so many who have come after you. Could write a book on how I admire you but I'll store it for now.

Loved her in "Strokes", "Fame" but most of all at the concert she did in Atlanta,Ga. so many years ago in the Control tour (I believe it was). I just remember being mezmerized by this beautiful, wonderfully talented young lady. So many people would tell me that I could be her sister(I wished). No one could touch her then nor can anyone compare with her now. Stay grounded and don't lose yourself in the hype! YOU ARE THE BOMB DIGGITY! (I'm 58 and still loving JANET and always will) GOD BLESS YOU! You are aunique and very sp

Yes, Janet Jackson is truly a beautiful and talented woman. I wish she would tone down the sex/bi-seuality/gay/ explicit music. She doesn't need to trash herself that way. Janet, stay true to yourself--nevermind about trying to makes sales. Janet, don't disgrace yourself (and Black women) that way.

. God gives each of us our own will and allows us to make our own choices. Marriages don?t stay together by some miracle magic potion, or by GOD choosing which marriage he will allow to stay together. Marriages last because two people have made a choiceo hold to their commitment to each other. GOD gave us free will. Do you know if HE wanted to, HE could have made us choose and worship HIM? Instead, GOD gave us each a choice. In his word HE says...CHOOSE YE THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE. The choice is always ours, the help

This is to Rosa Rosa, Girl get a life! Janet Jackson has came from very humble beginnings so who are you to say what she does or doesn't care about. Maybe if you stop feeling sorry for yourself things in your life would be better. Let go and let God!

I am so tired of reading about entertainers who spend $1,000 on pocketbooks and shoes or their next project or social problem. It is not interesting. Their lives are so distant from a regular working woman, there is no connection. I doubt seriously thatJanet or any celebrity cares about me, my life or my neighbors life. I am almost sure that they might even look down on the masses. Of course, they would all like for you and me to spend $$$ on their next project, product or endeavor. Go back to Pleasure Principle and Control. How about the slow songs Funny How Time Flies and Come Back to Me? Her vocals on Herb Alberts "Making Love in the Rain." WHAT??? Whoever she worked with back in the late eighties and early nineties, I hope they work with her again because those are classics. I can remember those days like it was literally yesterday. I love Janet more than Michael and I wouldn't mind meeting her in person. Respectfully,

I've been a long time Janet fan as well..grew up with her. She is a beautiful lady but she is trying to compete with the Beyounces, Rihannas etc.. She just needs to be herself and act her age. Do music for the people in her age group not for the twenty something young folk. They have plenty of artist in that arena. Her music is so bubble gum flavored...she is maturing but her music is not. But she is a beautiful lady.

I'm sorry, Cierra, Beyonce, Kellis, Kelly etc. there is no comparison to a Janet Jackson. Now, I give the young "it" girls their respect, but call me when you're over 40 and still looking 25, and holding down a career for 26 years that is not based on shaking your body alone. My favorite Janet moment was watching her perform in Hawaii. Those abs left me speechless.

Janet-YOU GO GIRL. You show them better than you tell them. I watched you bloosem from a young child to the vivacious woman you are today. I guess I related so much because we are so close in age so the places you are and have been,in mindset, I can definately relate. To take a line from Jill, "Hate on her haters". I will forever be a fan.

Just a thought...has anyone ever heard of FREEDOM OF SPEECH? Everyone has a right to their opinion. If some want to pit Janet against Ciara - that's their opinion - don't try to make them as if they're wrong for doing so. This kills dialogue

Janet has been a part of our household all our lives. The Jacksons will always have a place in my heart. Janet's talent is the same today as it was yesterday. The only thing I see wrong is her plastic surgery. Hollywood told them they can't make it with their ethnic features.

I have to agree with positive woman below. I loved Janet as Penny in Good Times. And I do not understand why we are always trying to pit 2 successful african american woman against each other. Janet has weathered the storm of the entertainment business and has definitely earned her place amongst the greats, without being compared to anyone else. I, also, loved Janet in her role as perfect Patty in "Why Did I Get Married."

Why must we continue to compare women against each other? Both of these women are very successful and talented in their own way. The article asked for your favorite Janet moment. With that being the question, my favorite Janet moment was her playing Penny on Good Times when she did her Cher imitation. You people get a life and learn to be happy within your own selves.

Janet vs. Ciara? Janet is not a singer (can't sing) and Ciara needs to grow. Of course that's not saying anything because at 40 she shouldn't even be compared to the younguns but since she is still trying to compete with them I'm afraid she is stuck withthe comparisons. Janet also needs to learn what is sexy at 40.

Janet has always been my idol every sencs GoodTimes and Fame as well as Different StrokesI'll always love her.As a matter of fact when I was in junior high school my classmates use to say I look like janet jackson. With my high cheek bones and my pretty white teeth and pretty smile. I love her and with GOD on her side I'm sure she will keep up the good work.

Janet Jackson vs Ciara? There was a comment made that the only competition for Janet is Ciara. These two artists are different no comparison is needed. Janet has years of experience and talent Ciara does not. Where did this comparison come from! Mind you these two women are extremely talented but comapring the two....what the heck!

Ciara is the only competion for Janet right now. She is beautiful, discipline and not afraid to try something new, just like Ms. Janet. I just love me some Janet, she's an international icon and still remains humble in the public eyes.

Well I am only a teenager and I must say that I LOVE her CD Discipline. I was not around to experience her music from the 80's or whenever. But what I do know from reading about her is that she has alays been very sexual with her style. It's just a part of who she is. So don't hate on her. All the Jacksons are sexy! Especially that Mike!

I think Janet is so fly. To tell u the truth I think she's sexier than the Bs Coles and Ri's. The album is fresh and innovative. I am 26 years old and I'm telling you Janet is in better shape than me. lol age is just a number. Go Janet you are the best there isn't any competition when it comes to Janet right now. Who can dance like her, who has a shape like her, and at forty she's still cute. Can't wait for the tour to begin...

I have heard only one song from Janet's cd and have to say that I don't care for it. But I wouldn't say that she should act her age? Come on Willow; She looks good for her age and should continue to sing and do her thing. And though I don't like her one song doesn;t mean I think its child like. Just doesn;t move me; doesn't mean the cd won't be who knows keep pushing Janet.

I am now over 40 myself. I think that Janet is beautiful and doing the damn thing; however, I think that at some point you have to take a step back and show maturity. I know that sex sells and everything, but come on we all know that Janet is not Ms. Cole or Ms. "B" or Rihanna. She is "Janet". There is a way to be sexy with out all of the junk that goes along with it. I haven't heard the new album, but I am sure that it is great. I applaud Ms. Jackson for living her life by her terms.

Janet has it going on. Don't hate. I look forward to turing 40 in 8 months. I call it my fab 40 and I'm celebrating. I'm also doing a complete makeover, inside and out. And Janet gives me inspiration to look good at 40. And ain't nothing better then a Southern man. JD's doing something right because she looks and sounds happy.

By the way Willow, why say your name is Willow, I'm sure it's Debra or Denise, but hey I understand, you want to seem youthful as well, isnt' that Will and Jada's daughter's name? If you're in your 40s let's keep it real, lol. Go Janet, don't hate causeJanet still looks under 40 and u probably don't.

Willow, music has no age, 42 isn't OLD, maybe it's just you who's the old soul. I find her cd to be very funky and vibrate. Because music is forever changing, people like to change with the time. Like they say, if u want to SELL music you'll get with a record company and keep your style fresh, if you dont care about sales, you'll just make music of no charge. Janet makes a living from her music and she is one artist who can still DANCE and flow with the best of'em out there TODAY, I commend her for staying MODERN and not

Janet's CD is fabulous and she looks absolutely beautiful. I was 14, twenty years ago and I remember creating a musical with my classmates based on "What Have You Done For Me Lately!" Janet still remains my favorite artist/entertainer. She's a trailblazer, trendsetter, & innovator!
