Karli me enjoying Kellys first album has nothing to do with the sales. My 2 degrgees back up my ability to express what I like and not what everyone else likes. Yet another person who would rather argue and talk about someone then use comprehensive reading skills and respond accordingly. Both of Kelly's albums have flopped but that has nothing to do with the music being great. There are plenty of singers who have real talent and get overlooked for someone more popular. That doesnt mean the music isn't great! Pay more attenti

I really feel that whether Solonge married becasue she was in love or if it was just because of the baby she really seems to have a good head on her shoulders. She talks better than alot of women older than her black or white. I say, leave her alone and let her raise her child. Everyone has things that they've done, past or present.. Let her do her.. Stop criticizing everything a celeb does and remember if they didn't have all the money and fame they probaly would be YOU!!

Solange and Beyonce are human and they have feelings. They are just living their lives. No one should have to read the awful things people comment. The energy spent tearing someone down could be used building someone up. Think about if these people were your family and treat them as such. At some point you will have to acknowledge this family knows what to do and has what it takes. They are extremely blessed and highly favored.

It is so sad to see how we tear each other down!! We do not stand by or congratulate our own people. God gives us our own talents and we prosper in our season. Look around the Knowles family, regardless of how much you snare and ridicule, are making great names for themselves in every area of the industry. You may not like the people but be proud of the accomplishments. Someday it could be you and you will want the same respect.

Karli- please stop tearing down others...I beleive that you must project the kind of life you want to have. I have known of the Knowles family since the children were little girls and I beleive that the parentS did an excellent job suopporting what their children loved to do. Do not be bitter, your break though will come when you stop hating on others. If someone marries to bring their child into a Holy Union, who are you to question it? We learn from mistakes and make the best of our lives. TRY IT.

Guarantee that TINA knowles child rearing, or lack thereof, is going to show up in Beyonce'. If not already. Tina has always tried to act as if she was other than BLACK, had more than what she had, before Beyonce's made the MONEY. Ananda, Kelly's album that was written by her FLOPPED. Shows how BASIC the Knowles family really are. Solange, as EVERYONE either know or suspect, only married (if true, BECAUSE she was PREGNANT. Momma Tina did not want that to affect her Prized daughter BEYONCE' career, nor the KNOWLES family gaining the PUBLIC appearance of a sexual underaged daughter. Stupid. Beyonce' has made a name for herself and she and Solange are two seperate individuals. Secondly, I would NOT have allowed my child to marry anyone, because of the insecurity of what others may say. Just wait, I'll guaran

Londoner I think you misunderstood the marriage part. She did not say that she was never married, she said they were no longer married. She did not pull a Brandy and fake the whole thing. Maybe you should read more carefully before you speak so passionately about something that is not in the article. I think its awesome that in spite of her age she is a mother and has been a great writter for a while. Her writting is one reason I like Kelly's first album so much. Oh get real, how do we know the morals of anyone that has ever graced the cover of Essence or any other magazine that we don't interact with on a daily basis? I will not call out names but, will say some of the greatest contributors for equality amongstblacks and whites, were shady when it came to morality. I honestly think it was a toss up for our black civil right movers to demand equality amongst blacks and whites; when we are our worst enemies. Funny how she refers to Daniel/Julez's father as my child's father and never my ex-husband. It makes me question whether the marriage was even real or just staged. I'm tired of this whole family and their so called businesses. From the overpriced, cheaplooking clothing line to the hip-hop toys, it's just too much for me. I can't knock the hustle, but I just feel they are "staged" and everything is done with an angle and nothing is as it really seems..

To bgirl808 I'm sorry but I can't just get with the term "Executive" at her dad's company. Naturally, she wouldn't get a position as an intern ( Angela Simmons) and work her way her up. So, let's not get carried away. An executive has the background, education and worked in the "trenches" to earn that title. . So, while she gets a few points for trying to have some type of career, I still don't believe she would have any success if it wasn't for her family's business..

WHO YOU WANT ME TO BE--No I am not Solange. I am however a Houstonian and an Essence subsciber and I feel it is just sad that because you have personal information regarding Solange's personal life (whether true or untrue) you would exploit it in a negative manner. You should be ashamed and yes you should get a life or improve your own.

I wish Solange many blessings! I applaud her for being private regarding her divorce, it was very mature and smart of her to not devulge details of who shot John and why. There is no doubt that she loves her family and will do all it takes to protect them. I look forward to hearing more from her. God speed Solange!

One thing i respect about Solange is the fact that she doesn't or atleast isn't trying to be like her sister, which is probably tempting seeing that she's a superstar. I'm 17 and had my daughter young and just like solange i'm not letting that hold me back. I look forward to her new album and only wish her success.

I agree with the last commentator, Zion. Just becuase last name is Knowles, should not be the reason why this article would be featured this month. However, I do applaud Solange on "bouncing back" from divorce and teenage pregnacy, resulting to the birthof her(i am sure)beautiful son. You have your life ahead of you.

I hope Solange finds success in whatever she does, but there was no reason to interview this young woman outside of the fact that her last name is Knowles. Why do I have to support someone simply because they're African American? Why do we assume that the presence of perceived success somehow means that morals are present? Why do we feel that people we do not even know personally are good role models? Shouldn't we just try raising our own children? This sort of thinking needs to be rejected.

Solange I am happy that Essence granted you an interview, I think you are moving in the right direction, although there are so many negative people hating on you and your family, do not let that affect your success. It amazes me how we as African Americancan lynch one another with harsh words and criticism. That is why we will never unite as a race of people because of the jealousy and envy.

I am happy that Essence interview Solange Knowles, in fact I am happy when Essence interview any celebrity of a positive status, it really sadden me when I read the various blogs about African American celebrities, how come we cannot be happy for one another, why is it that we have to degrade each other. So Essence keep up the good work with interviewing African Americans celebrities from a positive standpoint.Happy People create Positive energy!!!

Here's what I think: Please please please top talking about the Knowles family! You would think that there isn't anyone else in the music industry to talk to. I wish Ms. Solange well, but please close the Knowles book and interview some other folk!

All I can say is that we can find inspiration through people from all walks of life irrespective of economic status. We are all human and if someone can be moved to aspire for more in their life by hearing about someone's experience then that's a blessing. The world is a big enough place for everyone to cut a slice of happiness for themselves...no need for the hate.

Don't you guys realize this is all spin control for the family. She is a 21 year old child. Let's talk about her in another 20 years. It is really ashame that we admire people we don't know. But they give us a snippet of their lives and we are patting them on the back. The people who are deserving of your admiration are the young girls in the hood who do not have millions of dollars. Who struggle day to day for affordable childcare, child support and minimum wage jobs.

I'm not a big fan of Solange, but I respect a young sister trying to do it big. I'm not buying not wanting to be in the limelight nor wanting that for her son. I am a huge beyonce' fan and dont really care for Solange. I think that she needs to quit playin. The only reason she got married in the first place is because her daddy told her to because she got pregnant. He probably knew that the public would think negative thoughts about her because she is young and should not be having a babby's daddy. Anyway her son is cute. I just hope she is taking good care of him. And I do think she messed with Wayne. They probably did have a fling!

I canot believe that you would interview her. I can't believe that you would not interview Kelly Rowland and help her pub her album, since, she clearly was not getting it from her management team. I have heard her sing and it was a reason she was not in the group. You should have had Kelly on your cover and interviewed her. She is a star. And it is bad enough she can't get any pub, and I believe it is because she is dark. It can't be because she's not pretty enough. It can't be because she is not talent enough. So for what

I really am trying to understand why Solange Knowles is news worthy outside of being related to Beyonce.Solange has no more talent than the average person, what makes it worse is that she has not paid any dues or produced anything that shows she has talent at all-Solange needs to concentrate on taking care of her son and keeping her legs together until she is really married.

Miss Solange sounds good, confident, and wise. I pray she do her thing and bring as much as beyonce brought but in her proclaimed way. The industry needed B they have B. Solo Star! I met Solange back during her first promo tour... maybe'02. She's always been in a difficult spot with critics putting her in Bey's shadow, but I met a 15, 16 yr. old strong, confident and mature woman back then! And sooo talented/underrated! I enjoyed this interview. Solange is a mature young woman who evidently knows what she wants and who she is. She and her sister are apples and oranges, and I don't think of her comments about doing her own thing as B.S. because she doesn't have the "it won't happen to me" mentality about fame. I look forward to her album. I'm excited about thought of listening to music and not just a product.

Funny..because most those projects she's working with like L'Oreal and Walmart are due to her sister's success and not Solange. And while I applaud her for trying to create a career and her "drive" to be different, I still think it's BS.. Hip=hop toys!? Get real..
