Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been searching for the secret to this hairstyle for a while. I was one step away from cutting my medium length locks until I read the above article on Winterizing Your Hair. At 11:00 pm last night I settled into bed to read your magazine. At 11:30 pm I was up pin-curling my hair. When I woke up this morning I didn't know the what the results would be. At 7:45 (15 minutes before I had to be at work) I took the pins out, ran my fingers through my hair and PRESTO! Today at work I recei

I wore dreadlocs for 4 years, then cut them off because I got my graduate degree and feared not being able to find the job of my dreams. Needless to say I didnt find the job of my dreams until almost two years later, after I braided my short afro into small, teeny weeny braids to start locs again. Almost wish I had never cut them from jump street. However, it is great to switch up with the seasons. Since it is winter- a great braided style or short crop is great for wearing under hats. Conditioning isa must-do. For my

I would also like to suggest another style. For women that has medium to long length hair. The body wrap! You simply wash and condition your hair as usual. Apply setting lotion of your choice to hair and comb through to ends. Use magnetic rollers andpins to roll your hair. Sit under hooded dryer. When dry, remove rollers apply oil and wrap your hair. After wrapping your hair sit under the dryer for five minutes. Unwrap and go. For maintenance just wrap hair at bed time. It's easy! If I can doit, you can too!

Why is it that when natural hair styles are discussed, short to medium fro's, twists and locks are only mentioned? I grew my perm out 4 years ago and was baffled at everyones assumption that I was going to lock it. No way !! I like the unaltered naturalfreedom of deciding whether to flat-iron, blow dry, twist, corn-row, or just let air-dry my hair. My hair strethes half way down my back and am often stopped by strangers asking how I take care of my hair, whether I have a perm, why my hair is so thick and long, what I use,

Essence what would we do without you. There were no natural hairstyles for this segment I love the fact that I can look up a natural hairstyle on your website and make an appointment at the actual Hair Salon. I've done it twice and I was never disappointed. Keep up the good work. Love ya.

Many women are no longer processing their hair. I wish that you had included some hairstyles for natural hair.

Thanks for your great articles on Beauty and Style...But I should say as a magazine with a target audience of African American woman, It's disapointing to note how limited your articles are on natural (nappy) hair styles.

My coment is not so much regarding the article but the format it's presented in..I am strongly considering subscribing to the magazine..and to have a sneak peek into the articles helps a great deal. I like that the products used are listed within the article as well.

I think the girl with the short hair cut is BEAUTIFUL. She kind of looks like Halle Berry. She should be in more pictures in the magazine to showcase her looks more.

Also, a really great style (natural, non chemically treated hair- especially if your natural hair is curly or wavy)! Hair should first be treated by performing your normal regimen (wash, etc.) I found that what works best is to apply an activator (which also acts as a de-frizzer, leave-in-conditioner, and also moisturizer) and then apply two-strand flat twists, sectioned into as many parts as desired. After hair is dry, you can either leave twists up or disassemble twists and pick them out, and seperateusing your fingers,
