Jennifer L. Miles, design manager for the ESSENCE SHOWHOUSE, is president and creative director of her recently launched firm, Strategy By Design. Combining public relations, business savvy and innovative thinking, Jennifer works with a team of experts to offer its clients comprehensive interior solutions and creative services for the built environment. These services, which streamline the creative process, include web design, communications design and branding, construction management, public relations, marketing and restaurant operations. She backs her venture with 17 years of experience in design, construction, and commercial facilities planning.
Jennifer believes all space serves a purpose and that, "Design is not only beautiful things, but rather an extension of our everyday lives and how we function among those surroundings." To provide furnishings for the ESSENCE SHOWHOUSE, Jennifer called upon some of her favorite design houses such as Chista, Dialogica, Asia Rustic and Brueton. "Each design house was chosen for its diverse range of styles and for the beauty of its furnishings," she notes. Jennifer also managed and coordinated the acquisition of furnishings for the Citibank-sponsored Show House "Astor Row, Then and Now," for the Abyssinian Development Corporation.
Jennifer's current commercial projects include office renovation for a Focus Group facility and an upscale restaurant project at 129th Street and 5th Avenue in Harlem. Her other clients include Zebra Strategies, Carib News, Moore Development and other residential projects. For residential projects, Jennifer works with her clients to help them create and identify their own personal style. For retail and commercial spaces, she focuses on creating a space that is functional, inviting and has visual impact.
A student of the Parson’s School of Design, Jennifer’s extensive experience includes site selection, space studies, design, selection of architectural and engineering firms for Citibank, Institutional Investor Inc./Capital Cities, National Bank of Canada and E-exchange. She has managed projects in 22 U.S. cities, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo, and worked with some of the best architecture firms in the U.S. and Asia, including The Switzer Group and M. Moser Associates.
In every project, says Jennifer, her goal is to exceed the client’s expectations.
