Black women have an innate ability to keep things together-even when lots of times their Black men are not

HOME BASE: Philadelphia
PROFESSION: Grant manager
DOING RIGHT: Amiable and goal-oriented, Perry dedicates his time to helping "handi-capable" and able-bodied persons maximize their potential. An accomplished black belt in karate, he teaches martial arts and self-defense classes. And he's a ballroom dance instructor with the American DanceWheels Foundation. "A lot of people live their fears, not their dreams," says Perry, who was stricken with polio at age 3. "I tell my students: 'I'm not the role model, you are.'
MOST ROMANTIC MOVE: He once surprised a former girlfriend with an unexpected day trip to an aquarium.
