DOING RIGHT: Arnold works at the Urban Health Program, which recruits and maintains minorities in the health professions. Now a graduate from the University of Chicago postlaureate program, Arnold frequently meets with medical students in the program to offer academic advice. “I think it’s important to give back and help people go further than you’ve gone.”

ROMANTIC MOVE: After she had a hard day at work, “I cooked my girlfriend’s favorite meal and drew bathwater for her. With Luther Vandross playing in the background, I washed and rubbed her feet.”

HERO: Dr. Billie Wright-Adams, a pediatrician in Chicago. “She looked out for me while I was in medical school,” he says.
