AT HOME

Best in the Tool Chest

Our favorite feature on Tomboy Tools’ Pink for a Purpose hammer ($14.95) is its magnetized nail groove that picks up the nail and holds it into place. (No more nicked thumbs!) It also has a comfy, contoured rubber grip that nicely fits your palm.

To Benefit: Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Three dollars from the sale of each hammer will be donated to the organization.

Do-Right Doggie

There was no end to the amount of smiles and laughs that Multipet International’s pink Loofa Dog brought to everyone who picked him up at the Essence office. Trouble is, this foot-long-plus, soft, pink pup that lets out a slow honk when you squeeze him isn’t for people -- it’s for your pet to play with. Available in three sizes (12 inches, 18 inches and 24 inches for $3.99 - $8.99)

Lovin’ from the Oven
heartpan KitchenAid

Sure, you’re not about to toss your regular, rectangular, 13 by 9 inch baking pan. But for special occasions (anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine’s Day), why not pick up KitchenAid’s Silicone Heart-Shaped Cake Pan ($15.99). In addition to its cute shape, it’s also flexible, so you can pop out the cake more easily.

I want to tell all my sisters to get your mammogram. It may be the difference between life and death. At 27 I found a lump that was later diagnosed as Breast Cancer. There was no family history then. In 2006, (6) years later i had a routine mammogram, and biopsy confirmed, that it was not a re-occurence of breast cancer but a new type of breast cancer with different characteristics than the first.

At 36 years old, I've survived breast cancer twice. God has been so good to me. Growing up my favorite color was pink--my room was pink. My family says, "I buy anything with with that little pink breast cancer ribbon attached". I have the pink curling iron, flat iron, apparel..etc. I am looking at the pink hammer featured on the Essence website. I want to start my own company promoting pink products and donate proceeds to breast cancer research. It gives me a chance to "shop with a purpose".

At age 27, I found a lump
