ESSENCE hosts a wine party and shares some of our favorite wines from FirstLeaf
Cheers to you! Whether you’re celebrating a new milestone or getting through an intense growing season, each day we make it through is worth raising a glass. For the September issue, we were excited to host a wine party with Firstleaf, an affordable, convenient and customizable online wine service, available at firstleafclub.com.
After creating your Firstleaf membership and answering a few questions on flavor and region preferences, an intro kit with three to six options is created for you or you can you make your own selections – or try our ESSENCE packs. We tried one three-pack with U.S. brands and another with international bottles each containing a white, red and rosé. You can host your own girls gathering with our wine picks below:
The ESSENCE Domestic three-pack
2014 Turnkey Proprietary Red Blend from Napa Valley, California
2014 Lost Dog Lane Chardonnay from California 2015 Truvée Rosé from Central Coast, California
The ESSENCE International three-pack
2013 Argiano Non Confunditur Rosso Toscano from Tuscany, Italy
2012 Wairau River Estate Pinot Gris from Marlborough, New Zealand
2015 Domaine Sarragousse Rosé from Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, France
The first three bottles start around $20. Future orders of six bottles for $79 (plus tax and shipping) every two months or as often as you like. You can mix regions or wines in any pack. The more wines you try and rate, the more tailored your shipment becomes. FirstLeaf is owned by Time Inc., the parent company of ESSENCE.
We were most excited to check out Truvée wine, which was founded by African-American sisters Andréa and Robin McBride. “A lot of the wines we make are more Old World in style. We make a rosé from Grenache, with beautiful berry flavors,” says Andréa.
See our complete feature in the September issue of ESSENCE, which includes tips from the McBride sisters to make the most of your FirstLeaf order.
