“There’s a part of me in every aspect of this season; comedy, drama, documentary, sport, all made by a truly diverse team both on and off screen,” Elba said in a statement.

The line-up will include the documentary Moses: Strong Man, which chronicles the story of Nigerian-born personal trainer Moses Adeyemi; Lady Line Backer, a film about the only woman on an all-male American Football team; and Five By Five, a series of short films starring Elba.

“Idris is passionate about giving opportunities to new and exciting talent, as is BBC Three,” said BBC Three Controller Damian Kavanagh.

“As well as being able to provide a platform to those on and off screen, we’re passionate about telling stories for young people, made by young people," Kavanagh added. "'The Idris Takeover' is a unique collaboration which I know our audience will enjoy.”

The week-long programming begins March 27 and will be available on all of BBC Three’s platforms, which include iPlayer channel, YouTube channel and BBC Three’s website.
