Tyler Perry is being sued for copyright infringement by the estate of deceased gospel singer Bertha James, according to TMZ. The suit states that Perry used, without permission, a verse from her 1950 song "When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus" in his hit film "Madea Goes To Jail," during Madea's monologue delivered in the court scene.

Y r they messing with Tyler Perry I love him so much and his movies. They r just mad because he has so much talent and the LORD is using him

i love all of your movies its fun just to sit there n watch your movies cuz you act crazi in all your movies thats why i love them beacuse im crazi to im only 13 year old but i can get with anybody cuz i watch alot of your movies so i stand up for my self more then anythin so now people know that im not playin cuz there scared of me cuz they knw i dnt play all that:)!

I like Tyler. There is awlays an uplifting message to his movies. And the scenarios are real. I think anybody who can become their own boss and do it legit, without hurting others, is AWESOME! Flip Wilson did what Tyler Perry is doing years ago. Why are some people so jealous of others who do well?

I'd rather see Tyler as Madea than watch some rappers and their empty women.

Regarding SAMMY SOSA. When you have a lot of money, you and the people around you will tell you anything you want to hear. With this new look, I think Sammy looks terrible. 'Tis a pity he has money but no love for self.

My Bishop says that phrase all the time, I guess she and every preacher in the US will be getting sued. People just really need to stop the madness. UNBELIEVABLE!

HOW MANY TIMES have we heard a phrase used and haven't known it was already copyrighted? Can this man get a break?! Sometimes we take stuff too far. I'm really happy somebody is out there promoting the goodness of Jesus in the mainstream! Thank you, Tyler.

For all of you that didn't get it, the name of the song is "When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus". This says that he allegedly quoted a VERSE from the song, not the song's title. That is a completely different story and a big deal. If I wrote a song, I wouldn't want someone quoting the lyrics as script without paying me. If in fact he did quote a VERSE from an originally written song, then it is stealing. I hope this isn't true, because I am a fan of his work.

Who's next every preacher that come on TBN Im sure Ive heard them say it to and they're on TV Tyler just happen to say it in a movie... what is this world coming to!

i heard about that foolishness people really need to get things together don't they no that money rules all eviles i thought they new that for to say that they or a child of god .god people's don't act like that talk like that.the man been making movies and play's thats all it is i n t e r t a n t m e n t;lord why make a big deal out of notthing, make it out something,i'am quite sure that they or bigger then that.i say knock the f...off with that unessary bull.move on next topic.

I hear that phrase every Sunday. I did not know that it was copywrited. If it isn't, is there any proof that he "stole" the saying? If I were her family, I would be honored to have someone use my saying. I think Jesus is sickened by greed. Why now? Madea Goes to Jail is almost a year old.....Lord have mercy!

I hear this phrase every Sunday at church. I guess since Tyler has money, he's the only one being sued. Stop being greedy and just be happy for a brother.

Yeah! Sure he did. Oh please, I know how he feels, when you're on top everyone wants to shoot you down.

stealing????? this is not stealing!

People do anything for money, I wonder how Jesus feels about this.?

How many people have said that line and got away with it? people please!!!
