Alicia Keys Headlines Essence Music Festival

Grammy-winner and multi-platinum superstar Alicia Keys is the latest headliner announced for the 2010 ESSENCE Music Festival set for this 4th of July weekend in New Orleans. The gifted artist joins an all-star line-up, from nine-time Grammy Award-Winning singer Mary J. Blige, who is the official spokesperson of the 16 annual festival of entertainment and empowerment to new artist Keri Hilson.

Also on the bill is R&B cutie Trey Songz, gospel singer Mary Mary, rapper LL Cool J, Mint Condition, Raphael Saadiq, Charlie Wilson, Melanie Fiona, Lalah Hathaway, Gladys Knight, Joe and Laura Izibor. Buy tickets here.

Earth, Wind & Fire Honored At ESSENCE Music Festival

Not only will we be celebrating the 40th anniversary of ESSENCE magazine at this year's ESSENCE Music festival, but we will also salute the 40-year career of the legendary group Earth, Wind & Fire.

"We're honored that ESSENCE and Earth, Wind & Fire share the same anniversary," said Philip Bailey, leader and co-founder of Earth, Wind & Fire. "Together, we have both been jammin' for over 40 years! Get ready, 'cause we are going to celebrate this summer at the ESSENCE Music Festival."

Also on the bill is nine-time Grammy-winning singer Mary J. Blige, who is the official spokesperson of the 16th annual festival of entertainment and empowerment, happening this July 4th weekend in New Orleans. The list also includes R&B singer Gladys Knight, new artist Keri Hilson, Jill Scott, Raphael Saadiq, Charlie Wilson, De La Soul, Chrisette Michele, Joe, Laura Izibor and Melanie Fiona.

Mary J. Blige Headlines 2010 Essence Music Festival

It seems that Mary J. Blige has a lot to celebrate this week...including her 39th birthday.

For starters, the nine-time Grammy-winning singer/actress/producer has announced her return to the main stage at Essence Music Festival this summer.  In addition to performing, Blige has taken on the role as the official spokesperson in the months leading up to the 16h annual weekend of entertainment and empowerment, which is set for July 2 to 4 in New Orleans.
