She will take on the role starting Dec. 28 for an eight week run. This is the same role Brandy Norwood played last year during her run on the show.

The new gig marks Mel B's return to the Broadway stage 12 years after making her debut in the original production of Rent, back in April, 2004, when she took on the part of Mimi.

Brown was a founding member of the Spice Girls as Scary Spice.

She has been a contestant on ABC's Dancing with the Stars and was a judge on the Australian edition of The X Factor.
