One To Watch: Tiffany Haddish Scores A Standup Special On Showtime

The "Girls Trip" actress-comedian will talk about her childhood, exes and rise to comedy stardom.

Tiffany Haddish is having an amazing 2017.

The ESSENCE July cover star is gearing up for the release of Girls Trip, is killing it on The Carmichael Show and is set to star alongside Tracy Morgan in TBS' The Last OG. But on top of all that, she's getting her own standup special with Showtime.

As reported by EBONY, She Ready!, which was filmed in Haddish’s native Los Angeles at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, will air Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. ET. During the performance, the comedian discusses everything from her early life in the foster care system to getting revenge on ex-boyfriends.

In her interview with The Breakfast Club, the 37-year-old talked about her tumultuous childhood and her ex-husband who she married after he found her father.

"I felt like if I found my dad, maybe Ill be more complete. I'll find out how I think and who I am more," Haddish said about asking her ex to find her biological father. "Six years go by, I guess he had been looking for me but couldn't find me. And then he saw me on Bill Bellamy's Who's Got Jokes?. He hit me up —he was a private investigator by this time."

"He called me. And I said, 'If you could find me, maybe you could find my daddy.' And he said, 'I'll  find your daddy for you, but it's gonna cost you.' And he was like, 'I want you to marry me, that's what I want.' And so he found him in three weeks... And I'm a woman of my word."

Things that you need on a girls' trip. Okay, first you need a credit card okay because you don't know what might happen. And I would suggest you bring two of them, a back up credit card. [MUSIC] Great conversation, great company, really good music, good food. Snacks because if you don't have any money. You don't want to have to Go raid the mini mart [LAUGH]. You need a couple pairs of shoe choices. You need your going out outfits and you need your flip flops. You're gonna need some bomb **** heels so that you can get free drinks, hello. Everything you need to get your hair right. You might need to get it done before you go. If you're getting that weave, if you're getting braids. You gonna need You need a do rag to tie your hair up at night and or if you hit the pool or whatever you might just want to tie it up you gone need at least two cute maxi dresses SPF because you don't want Sun burn [MUSIC] A nice bottle of wine [MUSIC] probably I would take perfume deodorant you don't want to be the funky **** in the bunch I would suggest to bring two condoms just in case you don't know what could happen somebody try to get you know what I'm saying you can be like look be safe at least now I'm not suggesting to be a fornicator I'm just saying. Stuff happens, and that's it. I think that's pretty much all you need, that's all the necessities. [MUSIC]
