In the original 1986 version, which was Lee’s first feature film, Nola's role was played by Tracy Camilla Johns.
Wise has been building her portfolio with other recent high profile TV gigs like Fox’s series Shots Fired and a recurring role on the second season in the drama Underground. She's Gotta Have It will be her first major lead role.
The Chi-Raq filmmaker will direct each episode and executive produce alongside his wife Tonya Lewis Lee. Her husband credits her with having the initial idea to turn his movie into a series.
We can’t wait!
