After five years of marriage, here's what we know about the couple's shocking split.
By now you've heard the news that Grey's Anatomy star and activist Jesse Williams and his wife of five years, Aryn Drake-Lee, are calling it quits.
News broke in mid-April that the couple, who met back when Williams was a school teacher in Philadelphia, were amicably going their separate ways and here's what we know.
1. Reports surfaced that the couple would divorce.
Williams and Drake-Lee are splitting amicably according to TMZ. There is no news as to who filed for divorce first but the couple has agreed to part ways in a civil manner. Neither party has yet to address the news of their separation publicly.
2. He requested for joint custody of their children.
During their 5 year marriage, the couple welcomed two children together, daughter Sadie born in 2014 and a son Maceo, who was born in 2015. E! News reports that Williams has asked the courts for joint legal and physical custody of the two tiny tots.
3. The actor doesn't want to pay spousal support.
The 35-year-old is reportedly not ready to share any of his Shondaland checks with Drake-Lee. It appears that the couple may not have signed a prenuptial agreement.
4. She didn't like their L.A. lifestyle.
Williams and Drake-Lee tied the knot in 2012 after dating for 5 years and making the full-time move to Los Angeles from New York reportedly put a strain on their relationship according to PEOPLE.
“If you knew the couple they were back in Brooklyn, when he had dreads and a backpack and she was grinding doing real estate, you wouldn’t believe it,” explains a source, who thinks their relocation contributed to tensions in their relationship.“[Aryn] thought everyone was so different from their friends back in New York, and not as genuine."
5. He is rumored to have already moved on.
Soon after his divorce news broke, Williams was allegedly linked to actress and model Minka Kelly. The news sent the internet into shambles but while in the airport, the actor addressed the speculations.
With a hoodie on and dark shades covering his eyes, when asked about Kelly he turned his back to the camera with a jacket that revealed the message, "don't believe the hype."
Kelly and Williams were spotted together in Paris where they were working on a video game production together.
