The teenage son of former Miami Dolphins linebacker Antonio Armstrong was charged Saturday with killing his parents at their Houston home as loved ones started a growing memorial outside the couple's businesses.
The 16-year-old was charged as a juvenile in connection with the deaths of Antonio and his wife Dawn Armstrong.
Two other children, who were unhurt, were in the house when the shootings started at around 2 a.m. Friday. The boy’s name has not been shared due to his age.
Dawn died at the scene while Antonio died hours later in hospital.
Antonio Armstrong played football at Texas A&M University and then for the Miami Dolphins as a linebacker. The family owns a fitness gym in Houston called First Class Training and have been married for about 20 years, according to the Houston Chronicle. On social media, football players and teams shared the condolences.
Former Texas A&M headcoach RC Scolum remembered him as always having a “great smile” and “a joy to coach.”
